God First Chapel

Cheltenham’s former Christadelphian chapel has been put to better use. Now simply called The Chapel, it belongs to a charismatic group called God First, whose energetic website likely matches its style of service:

We are a Bible rooted, Gospel centred and Holy Spirit empowered church in the heart of Cheltenham. A growing community of Jesus followers, worshipping God first, proclaiming God first and together living God first lives. (sic) 

Our sinful natures tell us to live for self. Moralists and ‘spiritual’ folk might go further and urge us to live for others. The Bible says put God first; by loving Him more than all others, our capacity for love grows, and we find ourselves more inclined to cherish others and be less inclined to devalue and harm ourselves. So put God first.

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
