Great Stairs: Salford Art Gallery

The great staircase at Salford Art Gallery deserves its own curator’s explanation card. While art lovers employ its steps to enjoy the various galleries, the whole building in general, and the staircase in particular, is a work of art in its own right. I speak not just of the colour scheme, with its complimentary shades of blue, but the wonderful symmetry of the design. The art gallery is a work of art.
With our eyes we behold artistic beauty; with our ears we enjoy wondrous melody; with our tastebuds we relish superb flavours; with our hands we feel the varied textures of the physical world. Yet our bodies are themselves a work of genius; they are not mere sleeping bags which have evolved over millions of years of trial and error, but the careful, masterly design of an intelligent, thoughtful creator.
You really are a work of celestial art and divine engineering.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. –Psalm 139:14
