Holy Trinity Church, Wensley
Of Holy Trinity Church at Wensley at Wensleydale I have already written. It suits very well my taste for church visits: left open, historical and large. Furthermore, it is unlikely to have any services of worship when I call, preventing inspections, for no regular worship is held there.

Here is a church building with a rich and extensive past, but what of its future? Will it remain an attractive decoration in the dales, a strange relic from another world, indefinitely kept open for the curious and inquisitive? It has a past, but a doubtful future. Much as I love yesteryear, our God is the God of the living, not the dead. The Church is a worldwide, cosmic community of the redeemed, not a collection of ancient stones, dim memories and moth-eaten fabrics. If you live in the past, you will die in the past; let us therefore look unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who is not dead but alive, and who rules from timeless eternity.

Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
And put perverse lips far from you.
Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you.
Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established.
Proverbs 4:24-26, New King James Version
