Labour Giants and Abbott's Incompetence

How could the party that gave Britain such giants as Philip Snowden, Clement Atlee and Ramsay Macdonald, have appointed so incompetent a person as Shadow Home Secretary?
 
 
We Christians often pray for sincere, godly leaders, though our prayers are not frequently answered. Right now, I'd settle for plain competence.
