St Bueno's Well

Beuno's Well near Clynnog Fawr, Gwynedd, Wales, is considered to be a holy well or sacred spring. Although it might be hard to date the surrounding stonework, it seems to resemble a baptistry rather than just a place where people came to drink religious water. Whether old Mr Beuno retained the original method of baptism which the Roman Church exchanged for sprinkling, I cannot say. The place was also renowned for its healing and miracles, the curing of sore eyes its supposed speciality. Places of bright evangelical truth often devolve into dimmer lights, the original truth of the gospel being diluted and weakened. Well might the Welsh with poor eyesight have flocked to this place over the centuries; when sacred truth grows dim, we all go blind.
The Lord giveth sight to the blind: the Lord raiseth up the crooked: the Lord loveth the righteous. Psalm 146:8, Geneva Bible
