Tea Fit for a Prince of Wales

I have already written about Taylor’s of Harrogate’s English Breakfast Tea. I found another box of it in the cupboard and proceeded to quaff my way through. Curiously, it bears the Prince of Wales’ warrant, which is the present King’s, demonstrating his continued patronage. I cannot say if he still drinks now he is monarch, though I imagine he does, for a crown alters not one’s tastebuds. Similarly, there is little expectation that the current Prince of Wales is a devotee of Taylor’s by mere virtue of his title.
We sometimes imagine that our tastes and appetites in heaven, with the benefit of a new resurrection body, will be much different to our current ones. Truly, such a state will be characterised by change and transformation. Yet I wonder if the change will not be so great a contrast, afterall. The godless in hell shall still be characterised by hatred, sin and guilt; the redeemed in heaven shall simply magnify and enlarge their current love for Christ, their practice of His qualities and their loathing of iniquity. Beautiful crowns and vast inheritances do not alter one’s taste...so make sure that your pursuits and desires are already in accordance with eternal reality.
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2
