Crowning Wisdom: Prince of Wales (1728)

The 1728 Prince of Wales' Coronet (like the 1969 and 1902 versions) contains a single arch, which both exalts its wearer above other royal children, but keeps him below his sovereign parent whose crown has four. Unlike the later two, the arches are depressed, meaning they sink before reaching the monde (representing the world) and the cross (representing Christ, the King of kings). Although lowering the arch makes it a less spectacular piece of jewellery, it does bespeak the need of all to bow to Christ. King George III removed his crown during his coronation in honour of His own, greater King, but there are many, kings or otherwise, who wear their crowns with pride, bowing to none. He who bows before Christ is exalted eternally; he who will not yield is humbled, forever.

...that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth. Philippians 2:10
