End of Life Bill's End of Life

I was in a car with Vinny and Roger when the news on Friday came through. MP Lauren Edwards’ Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill had been defeated in the Commons by 286 votes to 270. The House has previously, but narrowly, supported a similarly worded Bill which the House of Lords had rejected. We were therefore jubilant that the state has not been given the power to kill its own, innocent citizens. This is, of course, common sense and natural law, but we are living in such dark times that its failure took me by surprise. I have grown so used to His Majesty’s various governments passing immoral, unethical, ungodly and unpalatable legislation that I had taken for granted the very worst outcome.

Although the existing protections are still maintained for the elderly, the sick and the disabled among us, protection for the unborn barely exists. The scriptural injunctions to care for the orphan and the dispossessed are defiantly ignored, routinely and murderously. The righteous fury and dreadful wrath of heaven continues to accrue and accumulate, as the increasing cries of the unborn daily reach the Lord of Sabbaoth in deafening crescendo, and He prepares His vengeance against our blood-stained nation. We might have just spared a generation of adults, but not the ones who never survived the abortion clinic.

He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. Deuteronomy 10:18
